Child... people have always feared the end of the world. But modern man is especially afraid, because his soul has lost its inner support. The world has become noisy, restless, and fragile. Wars, diseases, catastrophes, hatred, lies, the turmoil of nations—all this makes people ask: "Is the end really near?" But above all, remember the most important thing: a Christian should not await the end of the world, but rather a meeting with Christ.
The Lord Himself said, "But of that day and hour no one knows." Neither angels, nor men, nor saints know the time of the Second Coming. Therefore, any attempt to calculate the date of the end of the world has always been a spiritual error. Wherever a morbid curiosity about timing begins, repentance often vanishes. Christ did not reveal the day of the end of the world not because He wanted to conceal the truth, but because it is more beneficial for man to live in constant spiritual readiness.
The Lord said, "Be vigilant." This is the key word about the end times. Don't calculate, but be vigilant. Don't be afraid, but repent. Don't follow scary rumors, but remain faithful to Christ. Because for every person, the end of the world begins on the day of their death. And if the soul isn't ready to meet God now, then knowing the dates will be of no use.
But Christ nevertheless revealed the signs of the approaching end. And when you look at the modern world, what's frightening is not the wars or catastrophes, but how the human heart is gradually growing cold. The Lord said bluntly: "Because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold." This is the main sign of the end times.
People will live side by side – and become infinitely strangers to one another. There will be much talk about love, rights, freedom, and humanity – but less and less genuine compassion. People will fear silence, because in silence the emptiness of their souls can be heard. The world will be overflowing with information – and almost devoid of wisdom. People will know a lot about the world – and almost nothing about themselves.
The Apostle Paul wrote that in the last times, people will be lovers of self, proud, ungrateful, cruel, traitors, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. Look around—isn't this already happening? People increasingly worship their ego. The world teaches: "Live for yourself," "be yourself," "sacrifice nothing." Yet it was precisely self-love that began Satan's fall and Adam's sin.
The Lord also said that before the end of the world, the Gospel would be preached to all nations. Today, people can hear the word of Christ almost anywhere on earth. But at the same time, the world is filling with false teachings, spiritual substitution, and false Christs. And this, too, is being fulfilled before our very eyes.
Never before have people so sought a "convenient spirituality." People want to believe—but without repentance. They want "light," "energy," "spiritual experience," but without the Cross and without humility. The Apostle Paul warned: people will seek teachers who tickle their ears. Therefore, in the last times, lies that resemble truth will become especially dangerous.
The Antichrist, my child, will not come only through brutal violence. The world itself will first grow tired of such a truth and desire a convenient savior. People will want someone who will provide external unity without God, peace without repentance, happiness without the cross, spirituality without Christ. Therefore, the Antichrist will not simply be a political ruler. He will be humanity's last attempt to build a paradise without God.
The Holy Fathers said: the spirit of the Antichrist is already at work in the world. Every time a person puts themselves in God's place, every time truth is replaced by convenience, and freedom by self-will, preparation for his reign has already begun. The Antichrist will come in his own name. He will tell people exactly what they want to hear.
And the scary thing is that many will accept it not out of fear, but out of inner agreement. Because the world is gradually becoming accustomed to life without Christ. People increasingly desire earthly well-being at any cost. And where a person no longer loves the truth, they inevitably become prey to lies.
But we shouldn't imagine the end times as merely an external catastrophe. The main battle always takes place within the human heart. The Antichrist is terrifying not because of numbers and symbols, but because he will attempt to completely replace Christ in the human soul. Therefore, the main preparation for the end times is not the study of conspiracies and fears, but life in Christ.
Yes, there will be wars, disasters, diseases, and national unrest. Nature, too, will seem to groan alongside humanity. But all of this is not simply punishment. These are signs that the world, having fallen away from God, is crumbling internally. Humanity is increasingly losing the ability to live by love, and without love, the world inevitably begins to disintegrate.
And yet, a Christian should not live in fear of the end of the world. A disciple of Christ awaits not the destruction of the world, but the appearance of the King. For the unbeliever, the Second Coming is terror. For the believer, it is hope. Because Christ will come not only to judge, but also to finally destroy evil, death, lies, and the power of the devil.
The Apostle Paul says that the Lord will slay the Antichrist "with the breath of His mouth." This means that all the power of evil is insignificant before God. The devil makes noise, frightens, deceives, and builds his kingdom—but it is already doomed. The final word still belongs to Christ.
You may ask: how can a person avoid perishing in these times? My answer is simple, my child. Live a church life. Keep praying. Read the Gospel. Repent. Receive Communion. Don't become accustomed to sin. Don't sell your conscience for convenience. Don't seek miracles and sensations. And most importantly, keep love. Because in the last times, love will become the rarest and most precious treasure.
The Holy Fathers said: when you see the world going mad, don't be alarmed. Christ warned of this beforehand. But don't try to save the whole world with your anxiety. Save your soul first. If Christ lives in a person's heart, darkness will not be able to overcome him.
And remember, child: the end of the world is frightening only for those who live without God. But for the soul that loves Christ, the Second Coming is a return Home.
